Get in Touch with Your Inner Artiste in Calcata {Great Day Trips from Rome}

I have a confession to make.

Sometimes  I wonder if I might be a hippy.

I mean, not really, because I’ve never looked good in long skirts, and I hate the smell of incense.

But I do like small batch.  Locally-sourced.  Heirloom.  Craft brews.  (Well, not lately on the brews, but you know what I mean.)

If these things make me a hippy, I guess I will wear the title with pride.  Just not the long skirt.

ICYMI: All the Feels Edition

This is pretty much my life right now.

On the Blog:

Thanks for all of your support on my Quitters Story and my freak out on the future.  You guys are awesome.  I totally owe you a cappuccino.

The blog’s most popular feature by far.  I should just cut the middle man and have Henry do all the writing here.  #1 blog of all time.  Done.

I’m still doing a little running and still doing a little paleo.  Looking to change up your own habits?  Try this trick.

Looking for your next read?  Check out my 2015 list.

It’s Friday!  You know what I’m doing tonight.  Henry has already called “all the Octonauts.”  Huzzah!

On the Internets:

The baffling reason many millennials don’t eat cereal.  Hint:  it isn’t because they’ve all gone paleo and started eating eggs.

Over at MMD, Anne is talking about fashion in the thirties.  I agree with it all, and loved this:  How a Closet Cleanse Helped Me Embrace My Thirties.

I need to remind myself of this frequently.  Yes, it is only a season.

Hey there West Wing fans.  I’ve got the podcast for you!   (More podcast shenanigans here.)

I’m a little obsessed with Bower Power’s faux wood laminate backsplash.  #kitchengoals

We’ve got an Easter egg hunt this weekend.  Will also see if we can pull off any Palm Sunday capers.  I mean, we are in the right city for it after all.  How about you?  Big plans?

Why I Quit My Job to Be a Stay-at-Home Mom in Italy

One of the fun things about blogging is that you get to meet cool people, at least virtually anyway.

I don’t remember exactly when I first discovered Hey Eleanor, the brainchild of Molly Mogren Katt, but I immediately crushed pretty hard.  The blog is gorgeous, the writing is awesome, and I adore the idea.  Trying new things is pretty much my definition of adventure, and you know I’m down for that.

Molly has a series on Quitters, and I realized, hey, I have an interesting quitting storyCheck out my interview over on Hey Eleanor here.  I’d love to know what you think!

P.S.  Another fascinating article on quitting: “The ‘quitter’s mindset’ could be the secret to success

3 Ways to be an Excellent Running Buddy

So I ran a half marathon this weekend.  This was my 5th half, and my second in Italy.  I finished at 2:11:11.  Not a PR for me, but it was very close.  Overall, I was quite pleased with my performance.

The Roma Ostia half is a point to point race.  You start south of the city and then run straight to the coast.  Like STRAIGHT.  Like 12 miles of the race is all on the same road.  Shockingly, this was NOT as exciting as you might imagine it to be.  I know, right?

Can I be really really real with you for just a minute?

I’ve been thinking a lot of thoughts lately and feeling a lot of feels.

On life.  On the future.  On goals.  On happiness.  On what I want to do when I grow up.

Basically what follows here is a swirling brain dump of stream of consciousness gibberish.  I wouldn’t blame you for skipping.  But if your mind is also caught in the vortex lately, by all means, stick around!

Remember back when I said I might publish more book reviews?  Hahahaha.  Clearly, that did not work.

But since I’m in looking back mode (yes, even at the end of February), here is what I loved in literature in 2015.
